摘要
Transient stability analysis (TSA) is computationally intensive and the need for its on-line use has spurred much research in finding faster solution methods, more recently by using parallel computers. Research in parallel algorithms has shown that the TSA solution can be made faster by about a magnitude. However, using new algorithms for TSA implies major modifications, or even the complete rewriting, of existing TSA production grade programs in which significant effort has been invested over the years. This paper shows how the most well-known and fastest sequential algorithm used by many production grade programs can be parallelized and then easily implemented. Such implementation, first on an university research grade program and then on a production grade program that is in daily industrial use, demonstrates that almost a magnitude speedup can be obtained not only in theory, but in real practice.
