Infertility: A risk factor for psychological well-being in women

摘要
Objectives: To examine the influence of infertility on psychological health of women while assuming that infertile women would significantly report less autonomy, environmental mastery, personal growth, positive relations with others, purpose in life and self-acceptance than fertile women. Methodology: This comparative study was carried out from January 2017 to August 2017 on 150 infertile and 150 fertile women from Faisalabad, Pakistan. Data were compiled with Brief Interview Form (BIF) and Psychological wellbeing Scale. Independent samples t-test was used for analysis Results: Infertile women significantly reported less autonomy (t = -15.56, df=298, p=0.000), environmental mastery (t=- 10.378, df=298, p=0.000), personal growth (t=-9.403, df=298, p=0.000), purpose in life (t = -7.786, df=298, p=0.000) and self-acceptance (t = - 12.93, df=298, p=0.000) but more positive relation with others (t=3.44, df=298, p=0.001) than fertile women. Conclusion: Infertility is a significant risk factor for psychological well-being of infertile women.
