HYDATID CYST OF THE FEMUR - REPORT OF A CASE WITH MISLEADING ROENTGENOGRAPHIC FINDINGS

摘要：
A 54-year-old woman developed a pathological fracture of the femur as the first manifestation of a femoral hydatid cyst. Roentgenograms showed an osteolytic lesion with rupture of the cortex and calcifications in adjacent soft tissues, suggesting a chondrosarcoma or a bone metastasis. Computed tomography failed to show fluid-filled lesions in the bone or soft tissues. The correct diagnosis was established by examination of a surgical bone biopsy specimen and was confirmed by immunological tests.
