CONTINUING-EDUCATION NEEDS OF PSYCHOTHERAPISTS - PREDICTORS OF PROGRAM CHOICE AND SATISFACTION AT THE 1991 LINDAU PSYCHOTHERAPY CONFERENCE - AN EMPIRICAL-STUDY

Approximately 3500 therapists who attended the Lindau Psychotherapy Weeks (LPW) in April 1991 were requested to voluntarily obtain and complete two research forms, of whom 550 did so. The main instrument Used was the German-language version of the Collaborative Research Network's Development of Psychotherapists Common Core Questionnaire. The general questions to be addressed with these initial data were: (1) To which therapists do each of the LPW program components most appeal? (2) Which therapists do report the most benefit from the various LPW program components? Our results verify the general impression of trainers who are active in psychodynamic oriented training programs: self-experience is judged as very important by the participants, either for the personal benefit or the professional satisfaction. In addition, we can summarize that many psychotherapists are looking over the fence of their own psychotherapeutic school. They are interested in learning additional methods, obviously to adapt to the patients' needs for a flexibly handled psychotherapy treatment.
