NEW IDEAS ON MENTAL-DISORDERS

Three clinical types of disorders, based on libido-destrudo balances, were introduced: the hyperinstrumental, narcissistic, psychopathic type which deteriorates from an anxiety and depressive neurosis stage to psychotic psychopathy; the dysmutual type, which starts with hysteria and can deteriorate to manic-depressive psychotic toward a total dilapidated and dementive state; and the hypervectorial, overinvolved type with an abundant object cathexis in ones parents and/or other significant adults. These were distinguished and subdivided into 5 levels of serverity, namely neurotic, character neurotic, latent psychotic, manifest psychotic and dementive.
