摘要
This article reflects critically on research in distance education. It is a reading and adaptation of the works of Zawacki-Richter to the Brazilian context and perspective. Its objective is to provide support and reference to researchers who want to study the phenomenon of distance education. To the presentation of the author's research to Portuguese-speaking readers follows a presentation of the main international and national journals of the area. The article also proposes a model to guide the construction of lines of research on distance education, adapted from the original proposal by Zawacki-Richter and Anderson. The text concludes that there is still resistance to research on distance education in academia, especially in education, and that Brazilian researchers do not publish frequently in the main international journals in the area.
