摘要：

France has always played a special role in the "united Europe". Since the Schuman's declaration, Paris has been influencing and shaping the European integration with numerous initiatives. France has become a genuine political leader of the EU. The unification of Germany and the extension of the EU to the East as well as economic difficulties brought the French leadership in Europe into question, but at the same time, it did not reduce the ambitions of Paris. Macron's "European project" is seen as another strong impetus for further development of the EU and as an initiative that can restore the French leadership in the EU.
