摘要
Rubidium (Rb) medicated diets, of concentrations up to 5000 ppm, produced no detrimental effects in Formosan subterranean termites, Coptotermes formosanus Shiraki. Also no changes in feeding behavior were observed. Rubidium-marked termites were distinguishable using atomic absorption spectrophotometry (AAS) from unmarked termites for at least one month. Worker termites transferred significant levels of Rb to soldiers. This Rb marking technique may aid in understanding trophic relationships between ter-mite castes and mixed colonies.
