MICROWAVE AND MILLIMETER-WAVE MIXERS USING NEGATIVE DIFFERENTIAL RESISTANCE DUE TO ANDREEV REFLECTION IN SUPERCONDUCTING WEAK LINKS

摘要
Doing experiments with superconducting weak links of niobium we have found a new type of microwave and millimeter-wave mixer which uses the negative differential resistance due to multiple Andreev reflections. IF (Intermediate Frequency) outputs from the mixer have sharp peaks at sub-gap voltages. These observations are consistent with the recent theory by Kummel et. al..
