摘要
Using the method of tracking marked particles, the Lagrangian transport of suspended pollutants discharging from ten arbitrarily designated sources are obtained from a finite element tidal model for Johore Strait. They are used to study the mid-term pollutant convective transport characteristics in the estuary for a time duration of six days following the release of pollutants. To demonstrate the time-dependent nature of Lagrangian transport, two typical test runs are conducted to examine the mass transport characteristics during flood tide and ebb tide respectively. Both cases show that the pollutant convective transport capability is extremely poor in the estuary as the pollutants have no chance of dispersing to the open sea. To minimize the impact of pollution, Loyang appears to be a better spot for discharging suspended pollutants than any other designated sources during an ebb tide.
