摘要
Acoustic propagation in shallow water is similar to that in a waveguide with randomly rough walls. The field in such a guide can be calculated as a sum of coupled modes. However, the approach breaks down for deep surface roughness when the number of modes becomes too large to handle. A method is presented, based on a set of coupled integral equations, that allows the field to be calculated in a guide when both surface and bottom can have deep modulations. The applicability to underwater acoustics is discussed and some examples given. (C) 1995 Acoustical Society of America.
