摘要
The smooth variation of the refractive index occurring in the central part of an amplifier operated with C3F7I as the active medium is theoretically and experimentally investigated. It is shown that the perturbation of the refractive index arises from spatially inhomogeneous pumping and can be explained as a combined photolysis and gasdynamic effect. The wave-front distortion of a resulting laser beam is calculated. Its influence on the focusing properties of the beam is also discussed.
