摘要
Objectives: We examined whether physically active adults endorse more skin cancer risk factors compared to less active individuals. Among active individuals, we explored subgroups at risk for skin cancer based on time/location of exercise, perceived skin cancer risk, body image importance, and tanning importance and dependence. Methods: A cross- sectional survey was conducted with a convenience sample (N = 278). Results: Active adults reported more intentional sun exposure, but not more sun protection or sunburns. Two at-risk subgroups of active individuals emerged that reported more sun exposure, sunbathing, sunburns, and less sunscreen use. Conclusions: Physically active individuals may be at greater risk for skin cancer. Research should examine how tanning importance influences exercise, and which strategies could reduce skin cancer risk.
