摘要
The aim of this research is to explore the commercial and diplomatic ties between the Basque Country and the United States of America during the 18th century and the first decades of 19th century. The principal purpose is not to focus on the routes or commodities traded, where the essential role of tobacco must be highlighted, but to delve into the rudiments of the aforementioned diplomatic and commercial relationships - which date back to the 16th century with the English presence in North America - giving particular emphasis to its main characters: the strategies implemented, personal and epistolary bonds, and so on.
