The kinetics of dehalogenation of 19-iodocholesterol by gaseous H-3(2) are investigated in the range 20-260-degrees-C The dehalogenation has the highest yield in the range 40-60-degrees-C Besides dehalogenation, isotope exchange also occurs under these conditions and is studied using cholesterol as an example. The isotope exchange was most effective at 180-200-degrees-C.
