Paenibacillus sp. strain ICGEB2008 (MTCC 5639) is a Gram-positive cellulolytic bacterium, isolated from the gut of Helicoverpa armigera. Here, we report the draft genome sequence of Paenibacillus sp. ICGEB2008. The annotation of the similar to 5.7-Mb sequence indicated a cluster of genes related to the glycosyl hydrolase family and the butanediol biosynthesis pathway.
