摘要
Bombardment of leaf disks with DNA-coated tungsten particles, followed by marker selection, yields tobacco plants that are uniformly transformed in each of the 500 to 1 0 000 copies of the plastid genome per cell. The ability to transform plastids will facilitate the study of plastid-gene regulation and the application of genetic engineering to crop improvement.
