An approach to developing service-oriented architectures (SOA) in the domain of geographic information systems

摘要：
Interoperability among geographic information systems (GIS) is a necessity that is emerging for two reasons: the increasing use of GIS's in business for spatial analysis of information, and the need to supplement information managed by different GIS's, since information is acquired from distinct sources. Efforts to meet the need for solutions have focused mainly on two ways: the creation of standards and Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) development. This paper presents the existing shortcomings in the proposed mechanisms and intends to strengthen the solution posed by the development of SOA, predefining two basic aspects of development according to the specific domain of GIS's.
