Thus the objective of this study is to describe and analyze the leadership and motivation in the management strategy of companies in a perspective of improving the performance of people at work. Presents the concepts of leadership and motivation from the perspective of a theoretical framework based on Bergamini, Bowditch and Buono, Chiavenato, Vroom, among others. The corpus was constituted by exploratory, and explanatory literature. The bibliographic permitted to achieve some results that indicate that the motivation of people within the company depends largely on the work of leaders, which should be directed to influence his followers to motivate themselves to achieve their needs, expectations and organizational goals.
