SURFACE RECONSTRUCTION AND THERMAL-DESORPTION - THE MISSING ROW MODEL FOR H/CU(110) AND O/AG(110)

摘要
Using a lattice-gas model, we show that formation of the adsorbate-induced (1 x 2) missing-row structure on the (110) face of fcc metals due to anisotropic lateral interactions between metal atoms and adsorbed particles may result in a decrease of the apparent order of associative desorption from two to one. The latter seems to take place in the H/Cu(110) and O/Ag(110) systems.
