摘要
In an aluminium reduction cell, the interpolar distance between cathode and anode is crucial for process optimisation. The sensor meant for such an electrolysis cell should be able to withstand the corrosive environment. Ultrasonic time-domain reflectometry with carbon rod as temperature buffer and wave guide, used in conjunction with controlled insertion of the buffer, to eliminate spurious pulses generated in the buffer, to eliminate spurious pulses generated in the buffer, gives the velocity, of sound in electrolyte, and hence, also the required distance.
