The superconducting properties of powdered La2-xSrxCuOywere investigated for various values of Sr and oxygen contents. The phase identification by an X-ray diffractometer indicates that the samples have a single-phase K2NiF4structure. Measurements of the superconducting transition in terms of complex susceptibility χχχ'' have revealed that the sample with x\cong0.16 and y\cong4 has the highest Tc. The dependence of χ on the magnetic field amplitude shows different features crossing the value of x∼0.16, suggesting that for x>0.16, no intrinsic superconducting phase appears, but a low-Tcphase may exist for x 0.16. © 1990 IOP Publishing Ltd.
