EXCIPLEX FORMATION BETWEEN POLYCYCLIC AROMATIC-COMPOUNDS AND AG+ IONS

摘要
The formation of an exciplex between 9,10-diphenylanthracene (DPA) and Ag+ in various solvents was investigated, together with an analogous reaction between the heterocyclic aromatic compound 5H-naphtho[2,3-b]carbazole (NCB) and Ag+ ions in acetone solution. The kinetic and thermodynamic parameters of exciplex formation and decay were obtained from time-correlated single-photon counting (TCSPC) measurements at various temperatures. It is concluded that for both compounds an increase in entropy is decisive for exciplex formation.
