摘要
Nutritional deficiencies are common in patients suffering from inflammatory bowel disease. Assessment of the nutritional status should be part of the comprehensive care of these patients. Failure to address the nutritional deficiencies can result in poor quality of life and poor outcomes with the medical and surgical therapies. Identification and treatment of specific deficiencies are thus an integral part in the therapy of inflammatory bowel disease. This article addresses the assessment and management of the nutritional state of adult inflammatory bowel disease patients.
