摘要
Core members of medieval Icelandic society were relatively equal in social and property status, so the descendants of European (primarily Norwegian) nobility tried to demonstrate their inherited status. Medieval Icelanders demonstrated their wealth with an appropriate appearance. Their political authority was supported by a show of a vast and influential kin, and stressed their noble origin tracing to eminent ancestors.
