Characteristics of the journal Cuba results of the action of its communicational mediators and the historical-cultural context of the years 1962-1969

In this paper we present the partial results communicative and historical studies that had as purpose to analyze the characteristics of magazine Cuba during 1962-1969, in relation to the action of the mediating institutions, their main emitters and the socioeconomic, political and cultural context. Analytical-synthetic, historical-logical, documentary analysis and semi-standardized interviews were applied, which allowed to reveal some of its most significant features, among which the predominance of information on the national reality and the scarce allusion to international events are distinguished. In the approach of the messages, the positive discourse prevailed, without criticism, about revolutionary transformations, which was in correspondence with the interests of the institutions responsible for the journal in different stages: National Institute of Agrarian Reform (1962-1963), Commission of Revolutionary Guidance (1963-1968) and Prensa Latina (1968-1969). Under direction of Lisandro Otero during 1964 to 1968 it contributed to the presence of prestigious collaborators and talented novice writers, which have a favorable repercussion on the quality of reports and chronicles. Cuba maintained an attractive design, according to the most advanced trends of the moment, by the frequent inclusion of graphic montages and drawings on their covers. Photographs occupied a special place in the publication, appreciating in them the influence of the plastic and cinema of the time, as well as the experience of the majority of photographers in the field of publicity.
