Factorial experimental design was used in an investigation of the influence of heat treatment on the structure and mechanical properties of 03KhPN8K9M5T steel. Analytical polynomial dependences of strength and toughness on the quenching and aging schedule were obtained for the steel. Quenching from temperatures slightly above Ac3 and subsequent aging at temperatures close to but below Ac1 can be used to ensure adequate subzero impact strength and high tensile strength of stainless maraging steel.
