The (vapor + liquid) phase equilibria of (hexane + butan-2-ol) and of (cyclohexane + butan-2-ol) at the temperatures (323.15, 338.15 and 348.15) K have been measured using a Fischer recirculating still. Excess molar Gibbs free energies GEm and activity coefficients were calculated. Thermodynamic consistency was tested. Both mixtures exhibit positive GEm values over the entire composition range in the temperature range studied and an azeotrope exists at all three temperatures. © 1993 Academic Press Ltd.
