MONTE-CARLO STUDY OF PHASE-TRANSITIONS AND SCATTERING INTENSITIES IN A MODEL OF AU(110)

摘要
An anisotropic body-centered solid-on-solid model of the fcc (110) surface of Au is formulated and studied by means of Monte Carlo simulation. The nature of the deconstruction and roughening transitions is investigated. These are found to be distinct, with an Ising deconstruction preceding a Kosterlitz-Thouless roughening as the temperature is raised. Evidence is provided for an intermediate incommensurate disordered flat phase between reconstruction and roughening studied through the evaluation of X-ray and atom scattering intensities. A comparison with recent X-ray scattering data for Au(110) is also provided.
