摘要
In the past year, several studies have characterized the energetics of peptide binding to charged membranes. The results of this and other work suggest a role for electrostatics in fundamental processes, such as the folding of membrane proteins. An electrostatic mechanism has also been shown to be responsible for lipid asymmetry in a biological membrane system.
