Automatic image analysis in connection with stereology and stochastic geometry was used to describe the size distribution of air pores in autoclaved concrete. The experiments were carried out on AAC samples with extremely different bulk densities and compressive strengths. The assumption of an elliptic shape of pores leads to an unambiguous characterisation of structure by bi-histograms. It will be possible to calculate the spatial pore size distribution by these histograms, if the pores are assumed as being spheroids. A marked point field model and the pair correlation function g(a)(r) were used to describe the pore structure.
