SURVEY OF 70 COMBINED DRUG DEATHS IN LOS-ANGELES-COUNTY

This report presents 70 drug-induced fatalities during the years 1975 to 1976 in which only sublethal levels of two or more drugs (in blood) were found. It compares the postmortem levels of certain drugs with literature-reported toxic levels. It explores a number of other lactors, including survival time, age, end concomitant diseases, which may have contributed to each of the deaths. However, there is good support that the concurrent or simultaneous use of sublethal amounts of drugs per se could cause death. © 1979 Oxford University Press.
