MODULATED MOLECULAR-BEAM SCATTERING FROM SOLID-SURFACES - PULSE TESTING METHOD OF ANALYSIS

摘要
A mathematical formalism is presented [the pulse testing (PT) method] with which it is possible to use the entire shape of the reactant and product beams in modulated molecular beam mass spectrometry in order to derive kinetic parameters of various surface processes. The advantages of the PT method compared to the more traditional frequency response (FR) method (in which only the first Fourier coefficients of the reactant and product beams are utilized) are discussed. The adsorption and decomposition of formic acid on a Ni(110) surface are analyzed in order to illustrate the ease with which the PT method may be applied. © 1979.
