The influences of Nb addition on superconducting properties in Bi, Pb-Sr-Ca-Cu-O glass-ceramics were investigated. The glass-forming tendency decreased as Nb contents increased, and a superconducting phase appeared even in asquenched bodies. The Tc(onset) and Tc(end) were strongly dependent on the Nb concentration, and the highest Tc(end) was 102 K for Bi1.6Pb0.4Nb0.2Sr1.9Ca2Cu3Ox. The increase of Tcis basically related to the change in melting points caused by the addition of Nb. © 1990 IOP Publishing Ltd.
