The effects of oxidizing and reducing thermal treatments on the pinning properties of epitaxial Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8+y thin films have been investigated by DC magnetic measurements. With decreasing the oxygen content the critical temperature increases, but the critical current and the pinning energy decrease. The experimental ( H -T) irreversibility line can be fitted within the current theories on the vortex lattice melting using different values of the anisotropy parameter gamma for the different degrees of oxidation.
