摘要
The diffusion constant characterizing deterministic diffusion in two-dimensional area preserving maps on the torus is computed from periodic orbits. In parameter regions with strong chaos converged results could be obtained using orbits of period two. It is demonstrated that the periodic orbit calculation also provides a check on the reliability of the result. The method fails near bifurcations and in the presence of accelerator modes.
