摘要
The integration of voice, video and data in a fast packet switched network has become a practical possibility due to recent advancements in technology. The combination in a single packet switching network of voice, data and a full range of visual services, both interactive and broadcast, is referred to as a multi-service network (MSN). The additional connection control capability required for MSN exchanges, over the present generation of systems, could be considerable in the future. This paper discusses the requirements for a standardized, internal connection control protocol for use in such multi-service networks. It suggests how a suitable protocol might be derived from existing internationally agreed signalling protocols.
