摘要
This article examines six paradigmatic texts in the teaching of composition in the twentieth century: [1] Learning to Compose, by Larry Austin and Thomas Clark, [2] Materials and Techniques of Twentieth-Century Music, by Stefan Kostka, [3] Techniques of Twentieth-Century Composition, by Leon Dallin, [4] Creative Music Composition, by Margaret Lucy Wilkins, [5] Techniques of the Contemporary Composer, by David Cope, and [6] Simple Composition, by Charles Wuorinen. We seek, through this examination, summarize their central concepts and teaching approaches, and reveal connections with theory and history. Then, it is proposed a discussion of possible perspectives in the teaching of composition, given the growing establishment of textural, spectral, ultra-complex and systemic approaches in the field of musical composition.
