MAGNETIC AFTER-EFFECT OF FE73.5CU1NB3SI13.5B9 ALLOY IN AMORPHOUS AND NANOCRYSTALLINE STATE

Initial permeability magnetic after-effect (MAE) measurements of the Fe73.5Cu1Nb3Si13.5B9 alloy in the as-quenched and annealed (between 450 and 750-degrees-C) states have been performed. X-ray measurements for structural characterization of the material have been carried out also. MAE of the as-quenched and annealed at 450-degrees-C samples is typical for metallic glasses. The common influence of the saturation magnetostriction, the grain size and the ferromagnetic grain coupling governs the magnetic properties in the nanocrystalline state. The initial permeability after-effect of the Fe73.5Cu1Nb3Si13.5B9 alloy after annealing is proportional to the square of the saturation magnetostriction. The defects similar to those responsible for MAE of Fe-based amorphous systems have been established as the main source of MAE in the nanocrystalline state.
