摘要
A novel approach to the rapid testing of numerous combinations of culture media components is presented. The 'multiple-drop-array' (MDA) technique uses 40 μl hanging drops as its experimental unit, arranged in a geometrical order according to the combination of factor gradients. It is suited for all single cell systems, including protoplasts, cells and microspores. The technique allows a small team to test 5000 media variations in 2- and 3-factor combinations with a single population of 2 × 106 cells within two days. © 1979.
