摘要：

This article studies the main topics of the Brazilian education policies, especially the primary education financing. It is also commented the question of the public financing for Education, taking as base the Federal Constitution of 1988, the Lei de Diretrizes e Bases da Educacao Nacional (LDB) (Brazilian Basis Law for Education Guides), the Constitutional Amendment number 14 of September, 12th 1996 and the Federal Law number 9.424/96, which establishes the Fundo de Manutencao e Desenvolvimento do Ensino Fundamental e de Valorizacao do Magisterio - Fundef (Primary Education Maintenance and Development and Teaching Support Fund). Finally, this paper is concerned with the recent Constitutional Amendment number 53 and the Provisory Measure number 339 of December, 28th 2006, that regulates the foundation of the Fundo de Manutencao e Desenvolvimento da Educacao Basica e de Valorizacao do Magisterio - Fundeb (Basic Education Maintenance and Development and Teaching Support Fund).
