HISTORICAL HERITAGE AND CULTURAL IDENTITY IN THE PRIVATE CORRESPONDENCE OF IVAN LUCIC TROGIRANIN

The paper analyzes the attitudes and perceptions of historian Ivan Lucic Trogiranin (1604-1679) on his own native and cultural / ethnic community expressed in his letters sent from Rome to the homeland to his friends, relatives and acquaintances. His auto-perception has been observed with regard to content and thematic aspect of the letters, their occasional and social function, and bearing in mind the specific relationship between the conventions and the factual state in his private letters - qualities that are traditionally attributed to epistolography, as a type of writing.
