Efficacy of 3 fungicides for management of rice-blast (Pyricularia oryzae Cav.) was tested on 2 varieties of rice (Oryza sativa L.) in rainfed favourable uplands of Bihar plateau during wet (July-October) seasons of 1989 and 1990. The fungicides were tricyclazole (Beam 75 WP), IBP [O, O-diisopropyl-S-benzyl thiophosphate (Kitazin 17 G)] and ediphenphos (Hinosan 50 EC) and the varieties were 'IR 50' and 'HR 12' (both susceptible to blast). Application of IBP granule @ 25 kg/ha at 40 days after sowing supplemented with a spray of ediphenphos @ 1 litre/ha at booting stage recorded significantly low disease score and maximum grain yield. Seed treatment with tricyclazole @ 4 g/kg seed supplemented with IBP @ 25 kg/ha at 40 days after sowing proved equally effective.
