PREPARATION AND PROPERTIES OF NEW NICKEL BISDITHIOLENE CONDUCTORS, [N-BU4N]0.29[NI(DMBIT)2] AND [N-BU4N]0.59[NI(DMBBIP)2]

摘要
New conductive nickel dithiolenes, (n-Bu4N)0.29[Ni(dmbit)2] and (n-BU4N)0.59[Ni(dmbbip)2], were prepared and studied on their conduction property. 4-Probe dc conductivity of (n-Bu4N)0.29[Ni(dmbit)2] conglomerate of crystals shows a metallic behavior from 300K down to 220K +/- 20K at which it has a maximum conductivity of 1.35 +/- 0.35 S/cm. Below 42K it shows another metallic conduction down to 22K where it reaches another maximum of 0.24 +/- 0.09 S/cm. The UV spectral study revealed that the pi-electron delocalization is enhanced through sulfur enrichment toward dmbit ligand but it tends to separate into two interacting parts upon the incorporation of benzene ring . On-site Coulomb integrals of these Ni dithiolenes from a cyclic voltammetry study were found to be in accordance with the pressed pellet conductivity. The effective magnetic moments of (n-Bu4N)[Ni(dmbit)2] and (n-BuN)[Ni(dmbbip)2] were derived from a magnetic susceptibility study to be 1.74 B.M. and 1.75 B.M., respectively, which are very close to the spin-only value(1.73 B.M.).
