摘要
A mammalian artificial chromosome would enable analysis of the cis-acting DNA sequences necessary for mammalian chromosome function and would allow large numbers of genes in a defined sequence environment to be introduced into experimental animals, agricultural livestock or human cells. Recent technical progress suggests that a route to mammalian artifical chromosome construction is now open.
