CRYSTALLIN COMPOSITION OF THE BOVINE LENS EPITHELIUM RELATED TO AGING - IMMUNOELECTROPHORESIS

摘要
The bovine lens epithelial cells contain two α-crystaIlins, one pre- α-crystallin, three β-erystallins and one ү-crystallin, as detected by Immunoelectrophoresis with polyvalent and specific antisera. With aging, one of the two molecular forms of epithelial α-crystallin disappears. The β-crystallins of the epithelium may also change with aging, and the epithelial ү-crystallin differs structurally from the ү-crystallins in the equator and nucleus. Except one pre- α-crystallin, one α-crystallin and one ү-crystallin, all other crystallins which are present in the epithelium are also found in the other lens parts. © 1979 S. Karger AG, Basel.
