Prevention of work-related Musculoskeletal Disorders in Health: ergonomic and postural aspects

the quality of the services provided to the costumers are directly related with the state of healthcare, safety and well-being. The present study had as objectives: to know the postures adopted by nursing assistants during mobilizations of patients and promote changes at their level, in a Continued and Integrated Long Term Care and Maintenance Unit, in the north of Portugal. A research-action methodology has been chosen, carried out with samples from 7 individuals. The data was collected through Sociodemographic and clinical questionnaires, capture of photographic images during mobilization of patients, group and individual training, ergonomic and postural analysis collected through checklist and a Training Session Effectiveness Evaluation Survey. The results evidenced a multifactorial risk in the development of LMERT, highlighting the physical and biomechanical constraints (postures adopted), and of individual nature (regarding the lack of training for the role they play). In this context it is suggested the implementation of training plans as a moment of reflection in team, with periodic recycling, hiring whenever possible of professionals qualified for the job and acquisition of ancillary equipment mobilization
