Cutaneous abscesses are an uncommon manifestation of Acanthamoeba infection. We report a case of a patient with acquired immunodeficiency syndrome who developed multiple cutaneous lesions on bis arms, legs, and trunk. Skin biopsies revealed cysts and trophozoites of Acanthamoeba spp with invasion of blood vessel walls associated with tissue necrosis. Brain lesions examined at autopsy failed to reveal amoeba and no other foci of amoebic infection were found.
