EXPERIMENTAL INVESTIGATION ON GRAVITY FLOW OF SOLIDS THROUGH INCLINED PIPES

摘要
The gravity flow of solids through an inclined pipe from a packed bed to open atmosphere has been studied. The effect of various variables such as diameter, length, shape of the pipe at entry, and inclination of the pipe have been investigated. A correlation for predicting solid flow rates through an inclined pipe has been developed. The correlation agrees well with experimental data of the present work as well as those of others available in the literature. In addition, this correlation has been found to predict solid flow rates through inclined and horizontal orifices, as well as short vertical pipes, with reasonable accuracy.
