摘要：

Tooth number and shape vary greatly among hypostomines and ancistrines. Some extreme forms characterize taxa. Morphologic and meristic studies of teeth of Hypostomus Lacepede and Ancistrus Kner indicate that differences at species or species group level may be obtained among the numerous standard toothed species.
